We are sharing here with you the moving answer of Charlotte Fien, a young woman with Down syndrome, to Yadh Ben Achour. As you may know, the UN Human Rights Committee is currently writing an official interpretation of the right to life. On this occasion, Mr. Ben Achour recommended the systematic abortion of handicapped children as part of the right to life.

Shocked by these remarks, which could not remain unanswered, Miss Fien wished to answer Mr Ben Achour.

Moreover, the ECLJ defends the right to life of people with disabilities before the United Nations’ Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. On the 30th of November, we will submit to them a report on abortion and euthanasia of disabled people.
The ECLJ is writing this report following a call for submissions from the Committee for its General Comment on equality and non-discrimination of disabled people.
